“I let the others take the first shot because obviously. When you miss a penalty you don’t have much confidence in the next shot,” Akanji , who missed a ยูฟ่าเบท penalty in the quarter-finals of Euro 2024, which ultimately led to Switzerland’s defeat by England and their eventual exit.
“I told Ederson I would shoot it in the middle in training. Luckily it went in. It was not easy. We played well but United were strong before they took a 1-0 lead. Great cross from Oscar Bobb and a good header from Bernardo Silva to get us back into the game.”
“For me, Ederson is probably the best penalty taker in our team. Erling Haaland too. When Ederson takes a penalty, I know it’s a goal.”
For Akanji, he moved from Borussia Dortmund to play with Man City in 2022, playing a total of 97 games in all competitions, scoring 5 goals.
